You want to get a Class A firefighter or EMS uniform. But….where do I start with sizing myself?

Depending where you look, it looks complicated. But we here at Deutchman Uniforms are trying to make it as simple as possible and still have a suit fit you correctly. Let me show you how to do it.
If you go on our website and go to buy a class a uniform set we ask questions step by step. It just a few questions, so don’t worry. It’s simple.

Blouse Coat Sizing

The first thing you will be asked is the blouse size. You will see a bunch of numbers. Don’t worry, all you will need is a tape measure, preferably a seamstress tape measure, but other flexible tape measures may work as well. Measure around the chest one inch below the armpits. Don’t pull the tape measure tight, just a snug pull. This works best if you have someone helping you.
For the length, typically if long t-shirts or coats fit you better, a long blouse coat will as well. Base you decision off of your current wardrobe and you should be fine.

The red circle shows you where to measure to get the blouse size. Keep the tape measure approx 1″ below the chest.

The yellow line shows you how to get the length. It starts right below the collar and goes to the bottom of the suit, Usually measured down the back. Our coat chart then says how long the back is for the selected size.

That”s it for the blouse. The rest is just options such as embellishments to add to the blouse coat.

Pant Sizing

For the pants, usually, you can base it off of your current pant sizes. If in doubt you can measure your waist to get the waist size. For the inseam, there again you can usually use the same as your normal pants. It is measured from the crotch to the bottom of the pants. That is the only two measurements we have for pants.

Dress Shirt Sizing

There are a few measurements you can take for the shirt to be more certain the shirt will fit. One is a neck measurement, the other is a sleeve measurement. For the neck, just measure around the neck (not tightly) then compare with the chart below to see if it will be to tight around the neck.
The other measurement is the sleeve length. As you see on the chart, most sizes have three options. The most common is 34/35 and is what most store shirts are. To measure which one you want, measure the sleeve length from the middle of the neck to the end of the sleeve.
If you order online, we will send the 34/35 sleeve length unless you specifically request a different one.
